Eco-Development Initiative

Image
Mission: The EDI’s (Eco Development Initiative) main goal is to provide climate resilient housing opportunities for lower income communities, particularly those affected by homelessness. The goal is to address the intersection of climate change and homelessness by offering innovative, eco-friendly housing solutions and investment opportunities in the Southern California region.  Passion: As an LA native I have personally witnessed the first hand impacts of climate change and homelessness affect my community. LA is a multicultural city filled with a plethora of unique individuals who need to come together and make a difference. By providing green and sustainable infrastructure to our community, not only will it help a population in need but also help us as a city mitigate the risks of climate change.  Uniqueness: What sets us apart is the holistic approach we are going to take in addressing social and environmental issues. The affordable housing is designed using eco-friendly ...

World We Dare to Imagine

Reflecting on the quote provided I think it emphasizes the importance of each individual acting in a socially responsible way in order to create a greater sense of global interconnectedness. Being part of the generation of change there is a lot of pressure on us to fix the problems caused by those who came before us. I think the first step to grow from this is tackling our current climate crisis. The issues with our environment are causing a domino effect around the world affecting people of different backgrounds in a multitude of ways. Having a common goal will cause everyone to come together in order to solve it. If we are able to work together on one issue, it will pave the way for the future creating a better and more sustainable world.

Mercury Retrograde womp womp

Something I’ve been thinking about a lot recently is Mercury retrograde (we are currently in it). I know some people might be rolling their eyes right now because I am about to bring up astrology. I just genuinely wonder sometimes… maybe this stuff might have some truth to it. So I did some deep diving on the internet and although it's not scientifically proven it was a really interesting read.  Mercury retrograde itself is a scientific phenomena, where the planet Mercury from Earth’s perspective seems to be moving backward. Mercury is deemed as the planet of communication, so when it is in retrograde there are often more problems in the fields of communication, technology, and navigation. People are often advised to refrain from making major decisions in these fields, because so called problems could occur.  Although it has little scientific evidence, I started noticing patterns. It seemed like every time Mercury was in retrograde, things just got a little chaotic in m...

Book 2 Post 2

The Book I chose to read was “Feel Good-Productivity” by Ali Abdaal. I was intrigued to read this one because I struggle with severe ADHD and I am constantly leaving everything to the last minute. As a result of this I am always left feeling exhausted and treat school as a chore rather than an opportunity to learn. I was hoping that this book would inspire me to be more excited to do assignments or just give me some general motivation. I thought this book was really interesting, and the author's approach to creating productive habits was extremely innovative. If I am being entirely honest though I don't think I am going to carry out any of these tasks in my day to day life. I don’t necessarily enjoy self-help books because I read them and I think to myself “Wow that was really interesting I should do that” and then I never follow through with any of it. However, I did enjoy the book and thought the author had a deep understanding of what he was talking about.  3 Key takeaway...

AMDP PROPOSAL DRAFT

To: Professor Clark Hansen, CEO, AMDP From: Sophia Anders, Research and Development Analyst, AMDP Date:March 5, 2024 Subject: Proposal to consider investment in Depop Dear Mr. Hansen,  After thorough research on potential investment opportunities aligning with our values here at Anima Mundi Development Partners’ (AMDP) to promote social responsibility, environment sustainability, as well as profitability.  I propose that AMDP invest in Depop, a company devoted to deterring the rise of fast fashion by allowing customers to shop second hand in an easy and convenient way. Fundamental Concepts Triple Bottom Line (TBL): is a concept which evaluates the performance of a business based on three factors: social, environmental, and financial. Not only does it assess economic success (profit) it also takes into consideration the so...

Blog Post Book 2

The book I am choosing to read is Feel Good Productivity: How to Do More of What Matters to You, by Ali Abdaal. When browsing through the instructions this book grabbed my attention immediately. I feel like I’m in a bit of a funk right now, especially after transferring schools and readjusting my life halfway across the country. After taking a gap year and just doing things I really enjoy, it’s definitely been hard having to do homework and exams for the first time since high school. However, I got really lucky this semester and enjoy the classes I am taking, making it way easier to be productive in my school work. If I’m being so honest, I hate self help books and I feel like nothing I ever read in them resonates. I’m really hoping that this book might actually offer some valuable insight. I feel like it might be super impactful to me and where I am at right now, so I am really excited to start reading it, and look forward to giving my thoughts in Book 2 Post 2.

Blog Post- Random

Random Posts  The weather in Los Angeles lately, has been actually horrible, so I have resorted to binge watching movies and TV shows rather than leaving my apartment. I know I could be reading a book, but books are for summer and movies are for winter. Im gonna tell you some of my favs from the past month and why.  "One Day" is a limited series on Netflix and it is honestly soul crushing, I cried so hard. The show is about a couple who meets on the last day of college, and every episode takes place a year apart on the exact same day. I was honestly not expecting a lot before watching this because Netflix has been putting out some terrible content. However, this show was filmed beautifully and I was able to binge the whole thing in one day (lol).  Next up "Mr. and Ms. Smith" on Amazon Prime, I have not finished this show yet but so far it is great. It's really interesting to see how different it is in comparison to the original, which is such an iconic film. I...
