The weather in Los Angeles lately, has been actually horrible, so I have resorted to binge watching movies and TV shows rather than leaving my apartment. I know I could be reading a book, but books are for summer and movies are for winter. Im gonna tell you some of my favs from the past month and why.
"One Day" is a limited series on Netflix and it is honestly soul crushing, I cried so hard. The show is about a couple who meets on the last day of college, and every episode takes place a year apart on the exact same day. I was honestly not expecting a lot before watching this because Netflix has been putting out some terrible content. However, this show was filmed beautifully and I was able to binge the whole thing in one day (lol).
Next up "Mr. and Ms. Smith" on Amazon Prime, I have not finished this show yet but so far it is great. It's really interesting to see how different it is in comparison to the original, which is such an iconic film. I am enjoying it a lot because it doesn't seem like they are trying to recreate it but rather taking inspiration from the original and making it its own thing. Which I think is smart because recently we have been seeing a lot of classic movie adaptions that are just NOT GOOD. I can confidently say this show might even be better than the original in my opinion ( I know this is a hot take).
"Gone Girl" I have heard so many people talk about this movie, but I never got around to watching it until recently. It's a physiological thriller, which is probably my favorite film genre. It's one of those movies that you dont really grasp whats going on until the last 30 minutes of the film. I was thoroughly entertained the whole time, and didn't go on my phone once which is saying a lot cause 99% of my generations brains are fried from Tik Toks short attention span affect.
Hey Sophie! I've been meaning to find new shows to watch so thank you for the recs. I really want to start One Day but I'm scared I'm going to be too emotional haha.
ReplyDeleteHey Sophie, I loved that you said "books are for the summer and movies are for winter" - helps me justify my binge watching experience as well haha.
ReplyDeleteHey Sophia! I'm glad you enjoyed Gone Girl. It's a crazy movie but super entertaining!
ReplyDeleteHey Sophia! Gone Girl is definitely one of those movies that has you on the edge of your seat! I read the book this past year before I actually watched the movie and let me tell you I could not put it down! It took me two days to read it and it definitely lives up to its reputation of iconic psychological thrillers. If you like that genre I would 1000% recommend The Silent Patient for when summer time rolls around.
ReplyDeleteHey Sophia! I have been wanting to watch One Day for a while now but have been pushing it off because I am not prepared to bawl my eyes out like everyone said they did. But I love that you enjoyed it, and I will most definitely be watching it soon!
ReplyDeleteHey Sophia. Interesting you comment that because during this weather I tiold myself I was going to start a new show, but realized I just ended up catching up more on sleeo. I feel like I almost watch Tv less now
