Book 2 Post 2

The Book I chose to read was “Feel Good-Productivity” by Ali Abdaal. I was intrigued to read this one because I struggle with severe ADHD and I am constantly leaving everything to the last minute. As a result of this I am always left feeling exhausted and treat school as a chore rather than an opportunity to learn. I was hoping that this book would inspire me to be more excited to do assignments or just give me some general motivation.

I thought this book was really interesting, and the author's approach to creating productive habits was extremely innovative. If I am being entirely honest though I don't think I am going to carry out any of these tasks in my day to day life. I don’t necessarily enjoy self-help books because I read them and I think to myself “Wow that was really interesting I should do that” and then I never follow through with any of it. However, I did enjoy the book and thought the author had a deep understanding of what he was talking about.

3 Key takeaways:

  • Use the 3 P’s (play, power, and people)

  • At the root of procrastination usually lies either fear, uncertainty, or inertia.

  • To maintain your productivity long term, avoid 3 types of burnout. (overexertion, depletion, and misalignment)

  1. Hey Sophia, as someone who also has ADHD I can relate to the struggle. It's funny when I looked at the list of books available, I thought too this was certainly that can help me the most!

  2. Hey Sophia! Sounds like a book that I need...I also think I struggle with putting good advice into practice but hopefully I'll get better at that.

  4. Hey Sophia. I also find myself saying that I should do something and then find myself putting it off to the side. I too have really bad ADHD but I would definitely give some things a try regardless if you don't think they will help because something might stick with you!

  6. Hey Sophia, I also read this book because I too am a chronic procrastinator. I found this book quite enjoyable and really helped me learn more about my own productivity habits.
